Obituary of Wayne Keeteman

A Mass of Christian Burial for Wallace Wayne Keeteman of Old Monroe, MO will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe, MO. Father Don Henke, assisted by Deacon Neal Westhoff will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery near Old Monroe. Serving as pallbearers will be Nathan Storz, Matt Russell, Chase Dreyer, Chad Keeteman, Jerrad Freymuth and Brian Wehde. Mr. Keeteman, 78, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023 at his home near Old Monroe. Born May 7, 1945 in Old Monroe, he was the son of Wallace Henry and Leola Genevieve Bowman Keeteman. Raised in the Old Monroe area, Wayne was a 1963 graduate of Winfield High School. He was united in marriage on July 10, 1965 at Immaculate Conception Church near Old Monroe to Dorothy “Dotty” Elizabeth Wehde. This union was blessed with two daughters, Angela and Lynette. Wayne owned and operated Wayne’s Barber Shop for 52 years, retiring on December 30, 2017. Active in his community, Wayne served on the Lincoln County Water Board for 30 years, and the Old Monroe Senior Citizen Housing Board for 40 years. He was also a member of the Old Monroe Chamber of Commerce, and the Full Gospel Businessmen. A longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church, he was instrumental in starting the food pantry/outreach program. He was an active member/sponsor in the Cursillo Catholic Retreat program in Quincy, IL. While in high school, Wayne began his journey as a talented musician. Not only did he belong to the St. Louis Barber Shop Quartet, he was the founding leader of The Wanderers, The Keytones and The New Country Edition. Wayne ended his professional music career with J.R. Love and the Country Sensations. As he grew in his Catholic faith, Wayne continued to share his musical talents at many Christian venues. Wayne’s hobbies included antique tractors, collectable toy tractors and boating. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Leola Keeteman; and his brother-in-law, Ricky Freymuth. Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Dotty Keeteman of Old Monroe; their daughters: Angela Turnbull and her husband, Kent, of Old Monroe, and Lynette Hampton of Old Monroe; four grandchildren: Katie (Nathan) Storz, Lauren (Matt) Russell, Carly Hampton and Emma Hampton; and ten great-grandchildren: Chase, Lucy, Mary, River and Theodore, and Evan, Gabby, Macy, Hannah and Brady. Wayne also leaves one brother, Randy Keeteman and his wife, Glenda, of Winfield, MO; one sister, Patricia Freymuth of Foristell, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends. Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield; and from 9:00 until time of the Mass at Immaculate Conception Church on Thursday, December 28, 2023.
