Obituary of James Russell Gladney

James Russell Gladney Funeral services for James Russell "Jim" Gladney of Elsberry, MO were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Gene Stewart of Annada, MO officiated with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers were Jeff Harrison, Joe Misuraco, Jamie Momphard and John Harrison. Mr. Gladney, 61, died Saturday morning, June 16, 2007 at his home in Elsberry. Born March 15, 1946 in San Diego, CA, he was the son of William Russell and Margie May Ray Gladney. He was a 1964 graduate of Elsberry High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1964 until 1970, then served in the U.S. Navy from 1971 until 1978. He was united in marriage on October 5, 1968 in Baltimore, MD to Elizabeth Ann "Beth" Burgh. This union was blessed with three daughters, Elizabeth Ann, Melinda Kay and Deanna Rae. Mr. Gladney was employed as an engineering bench tech at Texas Instruments and Boeing for many years. The Gladney family returned to Elsberry from Texas in 1982. He worked part-time for the past 10 years for Donut Depot in Elsberry. He enjoyed reading, drawing and playing chess. He was preceded in death by his parents, William R. and Margie Gladney; one brother, Harold Gladney in 1959; and one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Gladney who died in 1969. Survivors include his beloved wife of 38 years, Elizabeth "Beth" Gladney of Elsberry; two daughters: Melinda Harrison and her husband, Jeff, of Elsberry, and Deanna Misuraco and her husband, Joseph, of Troy, MO; two grandchildren: Jessica and Stephanie Harrison; and three step-grandchildren: Joseph, Christopher and Michael Misuraco. He also leaves several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
