Ida Dawson Douglas Graveside services for Ida Dawson Douglas of Elsberry, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2007 at the Davis Family Cemetery near Elsberry. Rev. David Nissing, pastor of Silex Baptist Church in Silex, MO, will officiate with inurnment in Davis Family Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled through Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Mrs. Douglas, 87, died Sunday morning, May 27, 2007 at Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, MO. Born June 27, 1919 in Elsberry, she was the daughter of Madison Austin and Annie Elizabeth Calbreath Davis. She was united in marriage on April 2, 1938 in St. Charles, MO to William Louis Douglas. This union was blessed with two children: William Jr. and Joanne. She was employed for 18 years as a machinist at Sunnen Tool Company in Maplewood, MO. She was a former member of the Silex Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Madison and Annie Davis; five brothers: Clarence Davis (infant), Amuel Davis, David Davis, King F. Davis and Samuel Davis; one sister, Ruth Robey; her daughter, Joanne H. Dreadin, who died May 10, 1997; and her beloved husband, William L. Douglas, Sr., who died July 1, 1987. Survivors include her son, William L. "Bill" Douglas, Jr. of Elsberry; eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She also leaves one sister-in-law, Eleanor Davis of Elsberry; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
