Obituary of Cheryl Lee Roberts

Cheryl "Cheri" Lee Roberts Funeral services for Cheryl "Cheri" Lee Roberts of Jefferson City, MO, formerly of the Annada/Elsberry, MO area, were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Paul Garven, pastor of the Elsberry United Methodist Church, officiated with burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville, MO. Serving as pallbearers were Michael Flynn, David Brumagin, Joel Flynn, Chris Ricks, Mark Rice and Bill Lagemann. Ms. Roberts, 54, died early Monday morning, May 28, 2007 in Jefferson City, MO. Born July 22, 1952 in Louisiana, MO, she was the daughter of Joe Richards and Imogene Brown Whitmore. She was a 1970 graduate of Clopton High School near Clarksville. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Northeast Missouri State University in 1975. Ms. Roberts taught high school physical education in the Rolla, MO school system for many years, and coached the girl's volleyball and softball teams. Active in sports throughout her life, she played in Khoury League softball as a child and later played on city league softball teams as an adult. She was an in-school suspension supervisor, and a night cottage parent for Boys and Girls Town in Saint James, MO for several years. She was a lifelong member of Annada Christian Church in Annada, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Jean Whitmore. Survivors include her brother, Stephen Whitmore and his wife, Amy, of Reno, NV; her sister, Rhonda Flynn and her husband, Michael, of Jefferson City; three nieces: Aowyn Carillo and her husband, Joshua, Galadriel Lovett and her husband, Tim, and Ashley Flynn; two nephews: Jared Whitmore and his wife, Sandiney, and Joel Flynn; and two great nieces. She also leaves her former husband, Dennis Roberts of Rolla, MO; several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 12:00 noon until time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
