Obituary of Carol J. Lueddecke (formerly Bergesch)

Funeral Services for Carol J. (nee Marti) Lueddecke of Wright City, MO, formerly of Winfield, MO will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Larry Gallaher, pastor of the Asbury United Methodist Church near Foley, MO, will officiate with burial in Winfield Cemetery in Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Randolph, Nick Bergesch, Josh Treadway, Daniel Wright, David Marti and Bobby Marti. Carol, 83, passed away Saturday morning, July 29, 2023 at DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton, MO. Born January 8, 1940 in Ferguson, MO, she was the daughter of John Joseph “Red” and Jewell Bennett Marti. Carol was a 1958 graduate of Winfield High School. She was united in marriage on June 7, 1958 in Old Monroe, MO to Orville Herman Bergesch. This union was blessed with two children, Patti and Joe. They lived and raised their children in the Winfield area. After 23 years of marriage, Carol lost her husband, Orville on August 17, 1981. Carol was employed for several years as a clerk at Dixon’s Quick Shop, as well as driving a school bus for the Winfield R-IV School District. She was employed for a number of years as a machine operator at Charleswood Furniture in Wright City, retiring in May, 2002. Carol was married again on June 21, 2002 in Wright City, MO to Harold M. Lueddecke and they made their home in Wright City. Carol enjoyed motorcycle riding, playing cards, playing bingo and driving her red Miata. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Jewell Marti; her step-mother, Mildred Marti; five brothers: Raymond Marti, Gary Marti, Richard Marti, Don Dedert and Jack Dedert; one sister, June Dedert; her first husband, Orville Bergesch; and one grandchild, Heather Treadway. Survivors include her beloved husband of 21 years, Harold M. Lueddecke of Wright City; her daughter, Patti Randolph and her husband, Jim, of Union, MO; her son, Joe Bergesch and his wife, Michelle, of Chesterfield, MO; her step-daughter, Diane Treadway of St. Ann, MO; four grandchildren: Nick Bergesch, Christie Bergesch, Joshua (Sarah) Treadway and Alysha (Daniel) Wright; and four great-grandchildren, Austin, Lincoln, Emmalyn and Morgan. Carol also leaves many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home.
