Obituary of Helen Marie Calvin

Graveside Services for Helen Marie Mays Calvin of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Auburn Cemetery near Silex, MO, with Rev. Conrad Cheatham, pastor of the Elsberry Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, officiating. Mrs. Calvin, 95, went to be with the Lord Tuesday morning, July 11, 2023, at her home in Elsberry. Born November 14, 1927 in Pike County, MO, she was the daughter of Kirtly and Myrtie Parks Mays. Helen was a graduate of Eolia High School. She was united in marriage on March 14, 1948 in Bowling Green, MO to William Ernest Calvin. They were blessed with three daughters: Kathy, Denise and Roberta. She was devoted to her family and active in her church, serving as Sunday School teacher, women’s missionary society, and faithful in serving her Lord wherever needed. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Kirtly and Myrtie Mays; and her daughter, Roberta. Survivors include her beloved husband of 75 years, Ernest Calvin of Elsberry; her daughters, Kathy Calvin of Elsberry, and Denise Gray of Morton, IL; seven granddaughters: Julie Anna, Jill, Joy (Jason), Amanda (John), Jessica (Kendall), Cynthia (Robert) and Stephanie (Kyle); eleven great-grandchildren; several other relatives and many friends.
