Obituary of Edna Elizabeth Nickelson

Funeral Services for Edna Elizabeth Nickelson of Winfield, MO, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thurday, May 11, 2023 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield. Rev. Sammy Lorton, pastor of Whiteside Holiness Church in Whiteside, MO will officiate with burial in Old Alexandria Cemetery in Troy, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Nickelson, Jason Calvin, Andy Calvin, Tina Nickelson, Lacie Dreisewerd, Lilly Calvin, Kaylee Conderman and Lane Conderman. Mrs. Nickelson, 71, passed away Monday morning, May 8, 2023, at SSM St. Joseph Hospital in Lake St. Louis, MO. Born November 27, 1951 in Elsberry, MO, she was the daughter of Marion William and Elsie Lee Barnes Harding. Edna was united in marriage on August 5, 1978 in Bridgeton, MO to Walter Lee Nickelson. Their home was blessed with seven children: Christina, Lisa, Tina, Tommy, Jason, Andy and Lacie. Edna was a loving homemaker and babysat for many families. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Elsie Harding; four brothers: Jim Harding, John “J.T.” Harding, Joe Harding and Frankie Harding; sevensisters: Virginia Riffle, Ernetta Tolbert, Margie Gordon, Elsie Gordon, Norma Robinson, Velma Calvin and Eileen Locklin; her firstborn daughter, Rebecca Kay Calvin, who was stillborn; and her beloved husband of 41 years, Walter Nickelson, who died on July 13, 2019. Survivors include seven children: Christina Scott and her husband, Fred, of Kansas City, MO, Lisa Ward and her husband, Lester, of Joplin, MO, Tina Nickelson of Baton Rouge, LA, Tommy Nickelson and his wife, Stacey, of Houma, LA, Jason Calvin of Neosho, MO, Andy Calvin and his wife, Jana, of St. Jacob, IL and Lacie Dreisewerd and her fiancé, Eddie Rappel, of Alton, IL; fourteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Edna also leaves two sisters: Opal Dyer of Moscow Mills and Ann Gordon and her husband, Doyle, of Foley, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the Service at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
