Obituary of Mildred Lucille Simpson

Funeral Services for Mildred Lucille Simpson of Elsberry, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2023 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Kris Hagemeier, pastor of the Elsberry First Christian Church will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Simpson, Michael Chiodini, Matt Hudzik, Jeremy Koenig, Dewayne Simpson and Scott Hubbard. Mrs. Simpson, 82, passed away Monday morning, April 10, 2023, at her home. Born June 11, 1940 in Elsberry, she was the daughter of Albert Cordell and Nettie Lucille Creech Shafer. She was united in marriage on November 1, 1957 in Elsberry to Richard LeRoy “Dick” Simpson. This union was blessed with four children: Richard, Russell, Debbie and Julie. She worked as a seamstress for Commercial Apparel until her retirement in 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Nettie Shafer; two sisters: Mae DeGeare and JoAnn Howarth; one son, Richard “Billy” Simpson; one grandson, Travis McClain; two great-grandsons: David William Simpson and Steven Gress; and her beloved husband, Dick Simpson. Survivors include one son, Russell Simpson and his wife, Kim, of Elsberry; two daughters: Debbie Hubbard and her husband, John, of Winfield, MO and Julie Myer and her husband, Russell, of Callaway County, MO; thirteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Mildred also leaves one sister, Edna Grindstaff of Granite City, IL; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
