Obituary of Judy Ellen Mills

Funeral Services for Judy Ellen Mills of Elsberry, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2023 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Sammy Lorton, pastor of Whiteside Holiness Church near Whiteside, MO, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Makenna Mills, Josh Mills, Richard Whiteside, Sam Mills, Brandon Barber and Jim Clements. Mrs. Mills, 81, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 21, 2023, at Mercy Hospital Lincoln in Troy, MO. Born January 24, 1942 in Apex, MO, she was the daughter of Trevey K. and Irene Bernice Johnson Turnbull. Judy was united in marriage on June 7, 1963 in Troy to Lavern Alvin “Dutch” Mills. This union was blessed with five children: Grant, Tony, Scott, Darrin and Dana. Judy worked as a seamstress for Bobbin Along and Bridal Originals, and member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Trevey and Irene Turnbull; two brothers: Richard and Jack Turnbull; one granddaughter, Tenice; and her beloved husband of nearly 37 years, Dutch Mills, who died on April 19, 2000. Survivors include her children: Grant Mills of Clarksville, MO, Tony Laird and his wife, Tammy, of Vernon, TX, Scott “Scooter” Mills of Elsberry, Darrin Mills of Elsberry and Dana Anthony of Elsberry; ten grandchildren: Boyd, Brenna, Brandie, Blake, Brandon, Sam, Makenna, T.J. Rocky, Heather and Nicki; and several great-children. Judy also leaves one brother, Robert Turnbull and his wife, Karen, of Foley, MO; one sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Laird of Elsberry; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
