Obituary of Warren Allan Muzzey
Funeral Services for Warren Allan Muzzey of Foley, MO will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO. Rev. Abby Hall Jones, pastor of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Mr. Muzzey, 83, passed away Saturday evening, March 11, 2023, at his home near Foley. Born September 28, 1939 in Melrose Park, IL, he was the son of Percy Caleb and Elsie Sophia Panzer Muzzey. The youngest of eight children, he grew up with nieces and nephews as siblings as well. Warren was united in marriage on July 9, 1960 in Westmont, IL to Judith Marguerite Hartin. This union was blessed with five children: Daniel, Jeffery, Andrew, Sheryllee and Anthony.
Warren worked many jobs in his life. After settling in Missouri, he worked as Produce Manager at the Schnucks grocery warehouses, retiring in 2000 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Teamster’s Local #688 in St. Louis. He enjoyed camping, golf, square dancing, sewing and most of all his family.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Elsie Muzzey; all seven of his siblings; his infant son, Daniel Warren Muzzey; two infant great-grandchildren; and his daughter-in-law, Stephanie Muzzey.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Judith Muzzey of Foley; three sons: Jeffery Muzzey and his wife, Debra, of Elsberry, Andrew Muzzey and his companion, Jackie Showalter, of Illinois, and Anthony Muzzey of Foley; one daughter, Sheryllee Gibbons and her husband, Gary, of Foley; eight grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Warren also leaves many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until time of the Funeral Service at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the Elsberry Fire Protection District, Shriners Hospital Cancer Research, Special Olympics or Feed America in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
