Obituary of Timothy David Vahey, Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Timothy David Vahey, Sr. will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 13, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe, MO. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
Mr. Vahey, Sr., 84, passed away early Monday morning, March 6, 2023. Born June 25, 1938 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of William B. and Alberta Fritze Vahey. Tim was a graduate of Maplewood High School. Tim served his country in the United States Army from October 16, 1961 until his honorable discharge on October 15, 1963. He was united in marriage on October 13, 1962 in St. Louis to Barbara Ann Vlasak. This union was blessed with three children: Timothy David, Jr., Theodore Joseph and Marie Angela.
Tim attended Central Missouri State University where he graduated in 1973 with a degree in Fire Safety and Science. He worked for Creve Coeur Fire Department from 1971-1974. Tim worked as a Facility Engineer for McDonnell Douglas until his retirement in 1995. Tim was a member of the Old Monroe Lions Club, Old Monroe Knights of Columbus Council #10144 where he was a 3rd degree Knight, Old Monroe American Legion Post #420, and of the NRA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Alberta Vahey; six brothers: William, Thomas, Donald, George, Daniel and Richard Vahey; and three sisters: Marion, Alberta “Sally” and Elizabeth “Betty Ann”.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Barb Vahey, of Winfield; their children Tim Vahey, Jr. and his wife, Alice, of Silex, MO, Theodore Vahey of Troy, MO and Marie Shafer and her husband, Jason, of Jefferson City, MO; six grandchildren: Eileen Shafer, Corena Gardner, Cayden Vahey, Calvin Vahey, Theodore Vahey, Jr. and Christopher Braun; many niece, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 -7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield; and again from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 13, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
