Obituary of Charles Robert Cohoon

Funeral Services for Charles Robert Cohoon of Eolia, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2023 at Smith Chapel United Methodist Church near Elsberry, MO. Abby Hall-Jones, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Payne Powelson, Chas Cohoon, Brett Rogers, Bailey Wendt, Delane Hammett and Paul LaBanca. Mr. Cohoon, 87, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 1, 2023, at his home. Born September 14, 1935 in Holland, MO, he was the son of Henry Manford and Norma Louise Cohoon. Charles was united in marriage on October 3, 1975 in Elsberry to Betty Anne Davis. He worked as a Support Engineer for Vitek in Hazelwood, MO, retiring on September 12, 1997. Charles was a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church and the Louisiana Boat Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Norma Cohoon; one sister, Claudetta Young; one brother, Daniel Cohoon; one son, Brett Rogers; and one grandson, Blake Rogers. Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Betty Cohoon of Eolia; one son, Jeff Cohoon and his wife, Janie, of Elsberry; two daughters: Teresa Powelson and her companion, Greg White, of O’Fallon, MO and Ginger Scherrer and her companion Jeff Pegg, of Eolia; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Charles also leaves one brother: Wendell Cohoon and his wife, Carol, of Fenton, MO; two sisters: Linda Sue Warnhoff of St. Charles, MO and Anita Louise Cohoon of Bonner Springs, KS; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2023 at Smith Chapel United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to Smith Chapel in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
