Obituary of Shirley Jane Rothermich

Mass of Christian Burial for Shirley Jane Rothermich of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Fr. Richard Rath, church pastor, will officiate with burial in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be her sons. Mrs. Rothermich, 88, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022 at SSM DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton, MO. Born August 18, 1934 in the family home in Old Monroe, she was the daughter of Dick and Helen Miller Wehde. Shirley was a graduate of Assumption High School. She was united in marriage on October 27, 1956 in Old Monroe to James Peter Rothermich. This union was blessed with eight children: Brian, Dale, Faye, Dennis, Ed, Dave, Gerald and Donna. Shirley was a loving homemaker. Active in her church family, Shirley was a member of the Prolife Committee, Church Choir, Visiting Committee, Ladies Sodality and Cursillo. Shirley and Jim volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Helen Wehde; two brothers: Bill Wehde and his wife, Sue, and Gerald Wehde; one sister, Betty Dyer and her husband, Bernard; and her beloved husband of 60 years, Jim Rothermich, who died on March 13, 2017. Survivors include their children: Brian Rothermich and his wife, Mindy, of St. Peters, MO, Dale Rothermich and his wife, Denise, of O’Fallon, MO, Faye Mueller and her husband, Darrell, of O’Fallon, Dennis Rothermich of Troy, MO, Ed Rothermich and his wife, Dianne, of Silex, MO, Dave Rothermich and his wife, Nichole of Troy, Gerald “Buzz” Rothermich and his wife, Michelle, of Old Monroe, and Donna Reed and her husband, Jasen, of Old Monroe; twenty six grandchildren; thirty four great-grandchildren with three more on the way; and one great, great-grandchild on the way. Shirley also leaves one brother, Charlie Wehde and his wife, Anita, of Old Monroe; one sister, Joyce Rothermich and her husband, Dick, of St. Charles, MO; her in-laws: Gilbert Rothermich and his wife, Dot, of Josephville, MO and Rip Rippeto and his wife, Nancy, of Josephville; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield, and from 9:00 until time of Mass at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
