Mrs. Taylor, 89, passed away Monday morning, October 3, 2022, at SSM St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles, MO. Born March 16, 1933 on Slim Island on the Mississippi River, she was the daughter of Franklin Theodor and Viola Swearingen Busch. Ruby lived her whole life in the Annada area. She attended Salem School and Clarksville Elementary and later a 1951 graduate of Elsberry High School. She was united in marriage on March 28, 1953 in El Centro, CA to Lloyd Leroy Taylor. This union was blessed with four children: Lloyd Gerald “GT”, Gail, Judy and Karen. Ruby worked for several years as a Nurse’s Aide, but took great pride in her favorite job as a homemaker.
Ruby was a member of the Clopton Mothers of Annada, American Legion Auxiliary in Clarksville and of the Annada Christian Community Church. Ruby was a self-taught cake decorator, making many anniversary and wedding cakes which she always gave as a gift. Ruby and her mom, Viola, would take the boat out and spend many summer days fishing together when they weren’t tending to their very large gardens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Viola Busch; and her beloved husband of 48 years, Lloyd Taylor, who died on March 29, 2001.
Survivors include her children: Gerald Taylor of Annada, Gail (Dale) Herring of Bloomington, IL, Judy Brown of Elsberry and Karen (Matthew) Bennett of Columbia, MO; eight grandchildren: Paula Morrill, Douglas (Austin) Herring, Tom (Valaire) Gregory, Julie (Clay) Lockard, Tiffany (Derek) Howard, Katy Bennett (Jeff) Blumer, Karmen (Jared Blankenship) Bennett, and Matty Bennett; and thirteen great-grandchildren: Jake, Cole, Trae, Nash, Gage, Grant, Kyle, Jillian, Taylor, Paisley, Landon, Jackson and Dylan. Ruby also leaves her brother, Louis (Janie) Busch of Clarksville; two cousins: Gracie Wyatt and Betty Harding, both of Elsberry; her niece, Heather Guyott Busch of St. Charles, MO; many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 9, 2022 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to Clarksville Greenwood Cemetery Fund in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
