Obituary of Richard Paul Kitson, Sr.
Funeral Services for Richard Paul Kitson, Sr. of Winfield, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2022 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield. Rev. Sammy Lorton, pastor of Whiteside Holiness Church in Whiteside, MO, will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be his family.
Mr. Kitson, 87, passed away late Tuesday night, July 12, 2022 at Mercy Hospital Lincoln in Troy, MO. Born July 13, 1934 in Winfield, he was the son of William Henry and Anna Belle Dixon Kitson. Paul served his country in the United States Navy. He was united in marriage on December 10, 1954 in Elsberry, MO to Shirley Elizabeth Hunter. This union was blessed with nine children: Pauline, Kathy, Pamila, Susan, Anna, Paula, Richard Paul, Jr., Dewayne and Diane. Paul worked as a security guard for Lincoln County Memorial Hospital for many years, retiring in 2001.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Anna Belle Kitson; four sisters: Naomi LaRue, Cheryl Kitson, Janice Walton and Carol Trower; three brothers: James Kitson, Thomas Kitson, Jr., and Lonnie Kitson; and one daughter, Pauline Kitson.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 67 years, Shirley Kitson of Winfield; their children: Kathy Bath of O’Fallon, MO, Pamila Rainwater of Troy, Susan Stone and her husband, Wayne, of Mt. View, MO, Anna Kitson and her companion, Angela Whitehead, of Warrenton, MO, Paula Weaver and her companion, Frank Hesselmeyer, of O’Fallon, Paul Kitson, Jr. and his wife, Dawn, of Winfield, Dewayne Kitson and his wife, Deanna, of Troy, and Diane Kitson and her companion, Howard Young, of St. Peters, MO; twenty five grandchildren, forty two great-grandchildren and seven great, great-grandchildren. Paul also leaves one brother, Robert “Bobbie” Kitson and his wife, Shirley, of St. Charles, MO; one sister, Ruth Ann Langston of Winfield; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield. Memorials may be made to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 3838 East Highway 47, P.O. Box 253, Winfield, MO 63389.
