Obituary of Virginia Mae Heslep

Funeral Services for Virginia Mae “Jan” Heslep of Winfield, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield. Rev. Kris Hagemeier, pastor of the Elsberry First Christian Church in Elsberry, MO will officiate with burial will be in St. Charles Memorial Gardens in St. Charles, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Porter, Colby Horner, Ben Simpson, Phillph Johnson, Zane Loche and Wyatt Loche. Mrs. Heslep, 91, passed away Tuesday night, July 5, 2022 at her home. Born October 24, 1930 in Doniphan, MO, she was the daughter of Don and Gusta Hovis Wilson. Virginia was united in marriage on August 10, 1966 in Clayton, MO to Allen W. Heslep. She was a loving housewife. Virginia enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening and playing cards. She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Gusta Wilson; one son, Danny Wertenberger; and her beloved husband, Allen Heslep, who died on March 1, 1998. Survivors include one son, Donald Wertenberger and his wife, Darla, of St .Charles, MO; two daughters: Janet Porter and her husband, Bruce, of Winfield and Lisa Ameis, also of Winfield; seven grandchildren: Jenny, Krissy, Jeff, Jason, Shannon, Colby and Logan; and many great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
