Obituary of Jerome Lawrence Heitman

Mass of Christian Burial for Jerome Lawrence “Jerry” Heitman of Foley, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry, MO. Fr. Charles Tichacek, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery near Old Monroe, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Heitman, Dwayne Heitman, Andy Heitman, Collin Heitman, Dillon Heitman and Sean Schaefer. Jerry, 74, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022 at his home. Born December 17, 1947 in Old Monroe, he was the son of Cecil Joseph and Madeline W. Burkemper Heitman. Jerry was a 1966 graduate of Winfield High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force. Jerry was a lifelong former. He was united in marriage on May 6, 2006 in Elsberry to Mary Ann Lacy. Jerry was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Madeline Heitman; one brother, Don Heitman; one brother-in-law, Bob Groner; and one daughter, Julie Heitman. Survivors include his beloved wife of 16 years, Mary Heitman of Foley; three children: Kelly, Jeremy and Jill; two stepchildren: Amy Sanders and Lisa Holloway; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren: Meghan Strange and Sean Schaefer; and three great-grandchildren. Jerry also leaves four sisters: Carolyn Vehige and her husband, Rich, Jeanne Groner, Marge Wood and her husband, Mike, and Lori Vanzant and her husband, Tony; three brothers: Jim Heitman and his wife, Redonda, Rick Heitman and Tim Heitman and his wife, Val; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to Masses (or) the St. Vincent De Paul Society in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home; 107 South 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
