As a young man, he began a career as a truck driver, and retired from the profession in 2009. Mark loved the outdoors, and made the most of his retirement with frequent camping, hiking, kayaking and skiing trips. His favorite place to explore was Colorado, where he spent weeks in the mountains, inviting friends and family to join. Mark was always eager to share the things he loved - from a perfectly cooked chicken, to handmade woodworking gifts, to his sense of humor and big, welcoming laugh. A lifelong music enthusiast, he loved playing guitar, jazz piano, and discovering new musicians. In recent years, Mark often spoke about the sense of belonging and community he found at Chain, his favorite place to hang out and listen to live music.

He is survived by his mother, Erna Eschner of Weldon Spring; MO; his siblings: Monica Haberkamp and husband Rick, of Columbus, OH, Anita Ross and husband Bill, of St. Charles, MO, Deborah Niezwaag and husband Doug, of Phoenix, AZ, Brian Eschner and wife Pam, of Colorado Springs, CO, and Steven Eschner and wife Lorie, of St. Charles, MO.
