Obituary of Joseph Henry Hunter

Funeral Services for Joseph Henry Hunter of Foley, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO. Rev. Sammy Lorton, pastor of Whiteside Holiness Church in Whiteside, MO, will officiate with burial in Star Hope Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Dylan Skirvin, Danny Hunter, Kevin Hunter, Darryl Hunter, Ty Callaway, Denny Hatcher, Justin Hunter, Paul Kitson, Jr., KC Hunter and Ian Hunter. Mr. Hunter, 77, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 6, 2022 at his home. Born March 30, 1945 in St. Charles, MO, he was the son of Charles H. and Sylvia Harding Hunter. Joe was united in marriage on August 22, 1985 in Troy, MO to Joyce Alice Creech. Their home was blessed with six children: Melissa, Roger, Joe, Julie, Jolene and Tracy. Joe owned and operated Joe’s Garage for many years and loved tinkering with old cars. He loved fishing, boating and rabbit hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Sylvia Hunter; six brothers: Lawrence Hunter, Royce Hunter, Norman Hunter, Marvin Hunter, Floyd Hunter and Lee Hunter; one sister, Dolly Jondle; and one grandson, Bobby Joe Bradshaw. Survivors include his beloved wife of 36 years, Joyce Hunter of Foley; their children: Missy Hunter and her companion, John, of St. Louis, MO, Roger Hunter of Elsberry, Joe Hunter and his wife, Nancy, of Winfield, MO, Julie Hunter and her companion, Ty Callaway, of Elsberry, Jolene Hatcher and her husband, Denny, of Elsberry and Tracy Hunter of Elsberry; fifteen grandchildren: Michael Bradshaw, Kash Bradshaw, Justin Hunter, Hope Hunter, Maxton Hunter, Ian Hunter, Mariann Hunter, Dylan Skirvin, Luke Skirvin, Kenny Callaway, Jake Hatcher, Lilly Hatcher, McKenzie Hunter, Anzlee Hunter and C.J. Hunter; and nine great-grandchildren: Drayden Bradshaw, Bradley Bradshaw, Trey Bradshaw, Tessa Bradshaw, Emrick Harmon, Gunner Hunter, Weston Hunter, Cohen Hunter and Elijah Mercado. Joe also leaves one brother, Tommy Hunter and his wife, Betty, of Elsberry; four sisters: Shirley Kitson and her husband, Paul, of Winfield, Janie Bossard of Elsberry, Jeanette Creech of Elsberry and Charlene Kuntz and her companion, John, of Elsberry; four sisters-in-law: Ruthy Hunter, Gloria Hunter, Wanda Hunter and Debbie Hunter; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
