Obituary of William Walter Palmer

Funeral Services for William Walter “Walt” Palmer of Hannibal, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2022 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO. Rev. Kris Hagemeier, pastor of Elsberry First Christian Church, will officiate with burial in Star Hope Cemetery near Elsberry, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Sam Jackson, Matt Jackson, Rodney Smith, Richard Rennecker, Jr., Dolon Colbert, Michael Riechard and Matt Weis. Mr. Palmer, 66, passed away late Tuesday morning, February 22, 2022, at Harry S. Truman Memorial VA Hospital in Columbia, MO. Born November 2, 1955 in Troy, MO, he was the son Eldie George Palmer, Sr. and Dollie Joannis Ellis Mercer. Walt served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Walt worked as a commercial mechanic for Sapp and Sons. He was preceded in death by his father, Eldie Palmer, Sr.; and two brothers: Charles Palmer and Eldie Palmer, Jr. Survivors include his mother, Dollie Mercer of Foley, MO; three sisters: Clara Jo Johnson and her husband, Doug, of St. Peters, MO, Rosalie Gomila of Texas and January Mercer and her companion, Thomas, of Winfield, MO. Walt also leaves two step-sons: Michael Riechard and his wife, Tamra, of Hannibal and Justin Riffle of Elsberry; one granddaughter, Rebecca Riechard; other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2022 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
