Obituary of Frances LaVerne Egler

Funeral Services for Frances Laverne Egler of Elsberry, MO, formerly of Winfield, MO, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield. Rev. Stephen McLane, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, will officiate with burial in New Salem Cemetery near Winfield, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Ratliff, Brian Ratliff, Trey Towle, Jared Stone, James Suddarth, Alex Stone, Kaiden Ford and Jayce Suddarth. Mrs. Egler, 88, passed away early Saturday morning, February 26, 2022 at Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born June 18, 1933 in Matthews, MO, she was the daughter of Tom and Becky Harden McCool. She worked for 21 years as a jet setter for Carter Carburetor manufacturing in St. Louis, MO. She later served as a bus monitor for Winfield R-4 School District. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Becky McCool; two sisters: Barbara McCool and Cona Baylock; two sons: Jimmie Ratliff in 1976, and Bobby Dean Ratliff in 2010; and two grandsons: Justin Suddarth in 2007 and Joshua Suddarth in 2019. Survivors include two sons: Billy Ratliff of Winfield, and Bruce Ratliff and his wife, Georgia, of St. Charles, MO; one daughter, Janie Cohoon and her husband, Jeff, of Winfield; eleven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Frances also leaves one brother, Virgil McCool and his wife, Carol, of Kocomo, IN; two sisters: Leatha Long and her husband, Duke, of Kentucky, and Rosemary Wire of Indiana; several in-laws, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
