Obituary of Leon Junior Simmons

Funeral Services for Leon Junior Simmons of Elsberry, MO will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the Elsberry Apostolic Pentecostal Church. Rev. Doug Roam, church pastor, and Terry Reese will officiate with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery in O’Fallon, MO. Mr. Simmons, 77, passed away Wednesday night, January 12, 2022, at SSM St. Joseph Hospital in Lake St. Louis, MO. Born June 30, 1944 in Sikeston, MO, he was the son of Leon Jefferson and Veda Lambert Simmons. Leon was united in marriage on October 26, 1968 in Riverside, CA to Rosie Geraldine “Geri” Beadle. Their home was blessed with three sons: Kevin Leon, Jesse, and Kevin DeLong. Leon worked as a dump truck driver for G & L Hauling, retiring in 2010. He was a member of the Elsberry Apostolic Pentecostal Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Veda Simmons; one sister, Patricia Hall; and two sons: Kevin Leon Simmons in 1983 and Kevin DeLong Simmons in 2002. Survivors include his beloved wife of 53 years, Geri Simmons of Elsberry; one son, Jesse Simmons of Hannibal, MO; and two grandchildren: Elleanna Nicole and Alexis Marie. Leon also leaves one brother, Ricy Simmons of Alabama; two sisters: Deborah Fox and Angela Simmons, both of Missouri; one nephew, Ricky Simmons of Missouri; other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Elsberry Apostolic Pentecostal Church.
