Obituary of Andrew James Cannon

Andrew James "Jimmie" Cannon Funeral services for Andrew James "Jimmie" Cannon of Winfield, MO was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Richard Turnbull of Winfield, MO and Rev. Dan Meers of Kansas City, MO, officiated with burial in the Winfield Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers were Wally Graves, Justin Ferguson, Bill Colbert, David Meers, Kevin Turnbull, Anthony Holmes, Jeff Hamilton, Joe Birkhead and Darrell Birkhead. Mr. Cannon, 72, died early Monday morning, November 27, 2006 at his home near Winfield. Born December 2, 1933 in Winfield, MO, he was the son of Walter Alonzo and Blanche Lorene Irvin Cannon. He was a 1951 graduate of Winfield High School in Winfield, MO. He was united in marriage on October 11, 1953 in Winfield, MO to Bernice Caroline Bothe. A lifelong resident of Lincoln County, Jimmie was self-employed for many years as a farmer. After 20 years of marriage, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bernice, on November 29, 1973. He was married again on February 21, 1976 in Winfield to Carolyn Sue Green. He was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church near Winfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Blanche Cannon; his first wife, Bernice; and one sister, Doris Graves. Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Carolyn Cannon of Winfield; one son, Alonzo James "Lonnie" Cannon of Winfield; one daughter, Brenda Lowell and her husband, Kevin, of Old Monroe, MO; and seven grandchildren: Carl Hines and his wife, Jenny, Abby Cannon, Anna Cannon, Charles Lowell, John Lowell, Jenny Cannon and Samantha Cannon. He also leaves six sisters: Betty Ferguson, Marjorie Colbert, Barbara Jeffries and her husband, Jeff, and Vivian Turnbull and her husband, Richard, all of Winfield, Rene Meers and her husband, Ken, of St. Charles, MO and Donna Adams and her husband, John, of Perry, MO; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
