Obituary of Charles Eugene Stephens

Funeral Services for Charles Eugene Stephens of Elsberry, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2021 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Kris Hagemeier, pastor of the Elsberry First Christian Church, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry, MO. Mr. Stephens, 89, passed away Tuesday evening, November 23, 2021, at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born July 4, 1932 in Shetleys Creek, MO, he was the son of Henry Clarence and Grace Arizona Barrett Stephens. Charles loved Bluegrass and playing his guitar. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Grace Stephens; his siblings: Helen Denbow, Clarence Stephens, Jr., Etta Stephens, Harman Stephens, Juanita Atwell, Melvin Stephens; Haselteen Brown; one son, Charles Joseph “CJ” Stephens; and his wife, Laverne Stephens. Survivors include one son, Michael Stephens and his wife, Kathy, of Annada, MO; two daughters: Bekki Joseph and her husband, Tom, of Foley, MO and Paula Stephens of Troy, MO; five grandchildren: Heather Barber and her husband, Richard, Jesse Butts, Jared Moyer and his wife, Crystal, Josh Moyer and Kelsey Hilscher and her husband, Michael; and seven great-grandchildren: Meghan, Emily, Job, Addie, Miles, Gabriella and Abel. Charles also leaves one brother, Larry Stephens and his wife, Jeanne, of Eddieville, KY; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2021 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the Family of Charles Stephens to assist with final expenses in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
