Evalyne Whiteside Funeral services for Evalyne Whiteside of Foley, MO were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Allen Calkins, pastor of Star Hope Baptist Church and Rev. Raymond Doussard, AmHeart Hospice Chaplain, officiated with burial in Star Hope Cemetery near Elsberry, MO. Serving as pallbearers were Mark Ambrose, John Ambrose, Richard Whiteside, Shannon VomBey, Winston Bailey and Larry Cordsiemon. Honorary pallbearers were Bob Copeland and Joe VomBey. Mrs. Whiteside, 83, died late Friday evening, November 17, 2006 at her home near Foley. Born April 12, 1923 in Briscoe, MO, she was the daughter of Mark O. and Iva Lorene Eversmeyer Shannon. Raised in rural Lincoln County, she was a 1941 graduate of Buchanan High School in Troy, MO. She was united in marriage on January 1, 1942 in Troy to Richard Franklin "Dick" Whiteside, Jr. This union was blessed with two children, Connie Jean and Richard F. III. In 1960, Mr. & Mrs. Whiteside opened the Whiteside (American Family) Insurance Agency; and in 1967 formed the Whiteside Insurance and Real Estate Agency. A Real Estate Broker for many years, she retired in 1982. She was an active member of the Lincoln County Democratic Club and served as the Democratic county coordinator for several Presidential elections. She was a longtime member of the Star Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Iva Lorene Shannon; two brothers: Harold Shannon and Karl Shannon; and two sisters: Iva Ruth Johnston and Cora Lee Scott. Survivors include her beloved husband of 64 years, Dick Whiteside of Foley; one son, Dickie Whiteside and his wife, Diane, of Foley; one daughter, Connie Ambrose of Foley; four grandchildren: John T. Ambrose, III and his wife, Crystal, Mark J. Ambrose, Shannon Rae VomBey and her husband, Joe, and Richard William Whiteside and his wife, Raychel; and 7 great-grandchildren. She also leaves one sister, Dorothy Jean Dickmeyer of Troy; and several nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
