Obituary of Patricia Ann Proffitt-Wood

Visitation for Patricia Ann “Patty” Proffitt-Wood of Elsberry, MO will be held from 3:00 p.m. until time of the Funeral Service at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Kris Hagemeier, pastor of Elsberry First Christian Church, will officiate. Graveside Services for Patty will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at the Isenberg Cemetery near Tompkinsville, KY with Pastor Eric Guffey officiating. Mrs. Wood, 68, passed away Friday morning, October 22, 2021, at her home in Elsberry. Born July 31, 1953 in Xenia, OH, she was the daughter of Louis Edgar and Martha Maxine Kerr Proffitt. Patty was a graduate of St. Charles High School in St. Charles, MO; and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR. Patty later earned her Master’s Degree at Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. She worked for the State of Missouri in Mount Vernon, MO for many years. Patty was united in marriage on September 12, 2015 in Barren County, KY to Richard Lynn “Rick” Wood. She was a member of the Mount Vernon Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Martha Proffitt; one brother, Timothy Lee Proffitt in 1998; and one daughter, Jessica Danielle Goist in 2015. Survivors include her beloved husband, Richard “Rick” Wood of Elsberry; two sons: Carl Patrick Goist, Jr. of Cassville, MO, and Eric Raymond Goist of Mount Vernon, MO; two daughters: Rachel Michelle Williams of Hoover, AL and Leah Elizabeth Goist of Elsberry, MO; one step-son, Josh Wood; and her step-daughter, Juliet Hailey and her husband, Kevin, of Elsberry; and seven grandchildren. She also leaves two brothers: Michael Louis Proffitt and his wife, Susan, of Glasgow, KY, and Jeffrey Alan Proffitt of Las Vegas, NV; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
