Obituary of Charles "Bobcat" Robert Austin

Funeral Services for Charles Robert “Bobcat” Austin of Elsberry, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 23, 2021 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Kris Hagemeier, pastor of the Elsberry First Christian Church, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry, MO. Bobcat, 72, passed away Thursday afternoon, August 19, 2021, at his home. Born January 26, 1949 in Louisiana, MO, he was the son of Charles Newton and Margaret Anne Downing Austin. Bobcat was united in marriage on September 21, 1991 in Elsberry to Nancy Lyn Ballew. Over the years, he worked as a security guard, a nursery laborer, pool hall manager (where he also enjoyed shooting pool) and mowed yards for 35 years. Always remember Bobcat with a smile, sitting outside in his chair, with his dog Ralph, smoking a cigar. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Margaret Austin; and his beloved wife of nearly 19 years, Nancy Austin, who died on August 1, 2010. Survivors include his cousins: Libby, Rachael and Joani Harding and many more; his brother-in-law, Randy Ballew and his wife, Carol, of Troy, MO; and many close friends. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 23, 2021 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home.
