Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes Phone 573-898-2181 / Fax 573-898-3148 Newspaper Notice of Death Frances Elizabeth Burke Funeral services for Frances Elizabeth Burke of Elsberry, MO, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2006 at the Elsberry United Methodist Church in Elsberry, MO. Rev. Paul Garven, church pastor, officiated with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers were Winston Bailey, Bill Goddard, Gary Sharpe, Charlie Gladney, Jim Ross, Charlie Pratt, Randall Tolbert and Tom Mueller. Mrs. Burke, 92, passed away early Tuesday morning, November 14, 2006 at Depaul Health Center in St. Louis, MO. Born November 13, 1914 in Locust Grove, OK, she was the daughter of Julius and Rhoda Belle Cole Yelton. She was united in marriage on June 16, 1940 in Troy, MO to Lloyd Richard "Billy" Burke. This union was blessed with two sons: Tom and Tim. She was a member of the Elsberry United Methodist Church in Elsberry, MO, where she was active in the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Jesse Black Club, the Lincoln County Democratic Club and the Eastern Star. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Rhoda Belle Yelton; two sisters: Ethel Vaughn and Alta Tolbert; four brothers: Lester Yelton, Glen Yelton, Donald Yelton and Earl Yelton; an infant daughter, Sandra Lee, who was stillborn; and one brother-in-law, Ralph Humphrey. Survivors include her beloved husband of 66 years, Billy Burke of Elsberry; two sons: Tom Burke and his wife, Sara, of Kansas City, KS and Tim Burke and his wife, Tammy, of Minden, NE; three grandchildren: Amber Burke, Jill Liebers and her husband, Scott, and Kimberly Burke, and two great-grandchildren: Noah Liebers and Megan Liebers. She also leaves three sisters-in-law: Frances Humphrey of Elsberry, Edith Yelton and Margie Yelton, both of Wellsville, MO; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Visitation was held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 16, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
