Obituary of Dorothy Evelyn Heil

A Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy Evelyn Heil of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Father Richard Rath, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery near Old Monroe. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael King, J. D. O’Bryan, Ryan O’Bryan, Eric McLane, Anthony Heil, Blake Heil, Matthew King and Stephen Gowan. Mrs. Heil, 96, passed away early Friday morning, July 23, 2021 at her home in Old Monroe. Born July 11, 1925 in Independence, IL, she was the daughter of Arthur Olan and Erma Crystal Conkright Callender. She was united in marriage on April 30, 1949 in Overland, MO to Jerome Cyril “Jerry” Heil. This union was blessed with seven children: Kathleen, Mary, Raymond, Joan, Kevin, Mark and Tracy. Dorothy and Jerry owned O’Fallon Cab for 25 years. They also owned and operated the Case Tractor dealership in O’Fallon for several years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post #5077 in O’Fallon for many years. She was a diehard Cardinals Baseball fan. Dorothy was a member of Immaculate Conception Church near Old Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Erma Callender; three infant daughters; two brothers: Wayne “Buddy” Callender and Victor Callender; one sister, Bernadine Gerdes; one daughter, Mary Heil Smith on March 24, 2016 and her son-in-law, Tim Smith on June 30, 2018; and Dorothy’s beloved husband of 61years, Jerry Heil, who died March 14, 2011. Survivors include three sons: Raymond Heil and his wife, Ronda of Elsberry, Kevin Heil and his wife, Cathy, of Washington, IN and Mark Heil and his wife, Lisa of Marshfield, MO; three daughters: Kathleen King of O’Fallon, MO, Joan Burkemper and her companion, Kevin Jankowski, of Old Monroe, and Tracy Gowan and her husband, Ron, of Moscow Mills, MO; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Dorothy also leaves two sisters: Helen Goodlow of Louisville, KY, and Dale Harper of Hannibal, MO; several in-laws, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2021 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
