Obituary of James Frank Joste

James Frank Joste Funeral services for James "Jim" Frank Joste of Elsberry, MO were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 6, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Paul Garven, pastor of the Elsberry United Methodist Church, officiated with burial in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Mr. Joste, 78, died early Saturday morning, November 4, 2006 at the Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, MO. Born July 25, 1928 in Cuba, MO, he was the son of Blaine and Olla Nichols Joste. He was employed for several years as a lineman for Cuba Telephone Co. which was owned and operated by his parents. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served his country in the U.S. Army from September 4, 1952 until honorably discharged September 3, 1954. Stationed in Korea for 14 months, he was awarded two Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. Following his military service, he returned to his career as a lineman and worked for many years for Continental Telephone Company, retiring in 1976. Mr. Joste was a hunter education safety instructor for five years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Blaine and Olla Joste; one brother, Blaine Joste, Jr.; and one sister, Shirley Earls. Survivors include three sons: Michael "Mike" Joste of O'Fallon, MO, Richard "Rick" Joste and his wife, Cathy, of O'Fallon, and Randall "Randy" Joste and his wife, Julie, of Wentzville, MO; one daughter, Cheryl "Cheri" House and her husband, Donis, of Elsberry; and twelve grandchildren. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at 11:00 a.m. at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
