Obituary of Gary Dale Wheeler

Funeral Services for Gary Dale Wheeler of Paynesville, MO, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO. Rev. Alan Lockard, pastor of God’s House of Ministry near Elsberry, will officiate with burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Kelly Skaggs, Zachary Skaggs, Addric DeRoy, Ezra Hunter, Jr., Kimberly Hunter, Nathan Winchill, Thomas Huff, Jr., Darrell Chatman, Frank Raspberry and Jesse Jennings. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Hunter, Darryl Hunter, Kevin Hunter, Ricky Gardner, William Butricks and Jerry Skaggs. Mr. Wheeler, 59, passed away Monday afternoon, July 5, 2021 at SSM St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Born July 18, 1961 in Louisiana, MO, he was the son of Hubert Hillard and Alma Pearl Gardner Wheeler. Gary was united in marriage on March 28, 1981 in Rock Island, IL to Brenda Sue Hunter. This union was blessed with three children: Amanda Faye, Gary Thomas Hillard and Kimberly Diane. Gary worked as a farmer and loved to hunt. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Alma Wheeler; one brother, Hubert Wheeler, and one aunt, Garnett Gardner. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Brenda Wheeler of Paynesville; their children: Mandy Farrell and her companion, Jessie Jennings, of Paris, MO, Gary Thomas (G.T.) Wheeler and his wife, Katrina, of Augusta, MO and Kimberly Hunter and her husband, Ezra “A.J.” Hunter of Elsberry, Kelly Skaggs and his wife, Reagan, of Elsberry and Jerry Skaggs and his wife, Jennifer, of Elsberry; twenty grandchildren: Donavin, Steven, Mathew, Micheal, Savannah, Danielle, Katarina, Kristopher, Adam, Emma, Danny, Neaveh, Peyton, Logan, Lorelai, Zachary, Brittany, Addric, Michael and Ethan; and four great-grandchildren. Gary also leaves two brothers: Larry Wheeler of Elsberry and Richard “Ricky” Gardner and his wife, Dianne, of Paynesville; one sister, Deborah Wheeler of Elsberry; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
