Obituary of Dennis Wayne Luckett

Memorial Services for Dennis "Butch" Wayne Luckett, Sr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2021 at the Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ in Troy, MO. Rev. Lee Lewis will officiate with inurnment in Bethany Cemetery west of Foley, MO. Mr. Luckett, Sr., 76, of Troy, MO passed away Monday afternoon, May 3, 2021 at Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, MO. Born June 13, 1944 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Floyd and Adeline Massey Luckett. Dennis was united in marriage on December 26, 1978 in Riverview Gardens, MO to Jane Eva Johnson. Dennis worked as a kiln operator for Granite City Steel. In his younger years, Dennis was a soccer coach and athletic director at St. Aloysius in Spanish Lake, MO. He loved to attend flea markets, the horse races with his Dad, and go ‘coon hunting with Uncle Ken Murphy of Foley, MO. Dennis was a member of Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ, Troy. He was a friend to everyone he met. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Adeline Luckett (of Foley and Elsberry, MO respectively); one son, Larry Luckett (of Mill Spring, MO); and one sister, Joyce Gary and her husband, Dave. Survivors include his beloved wife of 42 years, Jane Luckett of Troy; one son, Dennis Luckett, Jr. (Sandy) of Chillicothe, IL; two step-daughters: Nancy Fennewald (Randy) of Troy and Terri Brancato (Mario) of Ballwin, MO; and five grandchildren: Brian Donnelly, Brendan Donnelly, Jeffrey Fennewald, Allison Fennewald and Emily Fennewald. Dennis also leaves two brothers: Donald “Gene” Wood (Pat), of Perryville, MO, Leon Luckett of St. Louis; sister, Jackie Tanase (Nick), of Kansas City, MO; his niece, Beth Gary; other relatives and friends. Graveside service will be held in Bethany Cemetery; Hwy. Y; Winfield, MO on June 13, 2021. Memorials may be made to Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ; 290 Fairgrounds Road, Troy, MO 63379.
