Obituary of Susan Carol Mills

Mass of Christian Burial for Susan Carol Mills of Elsberry, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 7, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. Fr. Charles Tichacek, church pastor, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry. Mrs. Mills, 72, passed away Thursday morning, April 29, 2021 at SSM St. Joseph Hospital Rehabilitation Center in Lake St. Louis, MO. Born August 26, 1948 in St. Charles, MO, she was the daughter of Frank Robert and Rose Ann Simon Dwiggins. Susan was a 1967 graduate of Elsberry High School. She was united in marriage on October 30, 1971 in Elsberry to William Andrew “Bill” Mills. This union was blessed with one son, Ryan Andrew. Susan worked in Food Service for the Elsberry R2 School District and later in the deli at IGA. Susan was a past member of the Red Hat Society, an avid reader and loyal patron of the Joseph R. Palmer Family Memorial Library, member of the Bible Study at the Elsberry First Christian Church, and a longtime and faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Susan was a proud supporter of the Elsberry Community and gave her heart to all she met. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Rose Ann Dwiggins; her brother, Robert Dwiggins; two brothers-in-law, Allen Mills and Johnny Momphard; one sister-in-law, Reita Ann Mills; and her beloved husband of nearly 31 years, Bill Mills, who died on September 7, 2002. Survivors include her son, Ryan (Stephanie) Mills ; and one sister, Mary Ann Momphard of Silex, MO; three sisters-in-law, Judy Dwiggins of Troy, MO, Judy Holmes and her husband, Tommy, of Elsberry, and Annette Mills, also of Elsberry. Susan also leaves two aunts: Jean Maschmidt of Elsberry and Kay Simon of St. Charles County, MO; many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry and again from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
