Obituary of Charles Edward Emerick

Funeral Services for Charles Edward Emerick of Elsberry, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Kris Hagemeier, pastor of the Elsberry First Christian Church, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Allen Cox, Sonny Taylor, Craig Koch, Steve Sharpe, Ryan York and Jimmy Jeans. Mr. Emerick, 92, passed away Thursday evening, February 18, 2021 at his home in Elsberry. Born April 18, 1928 in Roff, OK, he was the son of Lee William and Caroline Rose Kaiser Emerick, Sr. Charlie served his country in the U.S. Navy Reserves from 1947 until 1950; and was then ordered into active military service in December, 1950 in the U.S. Army serving in Korea until he was honorably discharged on September 5, 1952. He received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for injuries received on August 2, 1951. He was employed for many years as a machinist at Ideal Tool and Machine in Foley, MO. An avid Trap and Skeet shooter, Charlie was a life-member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association of America. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Caroline Emerick, Sr.; one brother, Lee Emerick, Jr. in 1975; and three sisters: Mary Coomer, Louise Maupin and Lucille Maupin. Survivors include two sisters: Sylvia Cox and her husband, Jesse, of Elsberry, and Sandra Navarre, of Shawnee, KS. Charlie also leaves several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the J.R. Palmer Family Memorial Library in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
