Obituary of Margia Moneta Hausgen

Funeral Services for Margia Moneta Hausgen of Elsberry, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Will Steinbeck, pastor of the Foley Baptist Church, will officiate with burial in the Star Hope Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Aaron Kinsler, Matt Kinsler, Jeremie Mound, Aaron Gladney, Derek Irvin and Eddie Hausgen; and honorary pallbearers, Jimmy Jeans, Frederick Hausgen, Jr., Mike Talbot, Greg Eagle, Bobby Green, Ronnie Vaughn, Sr. and Sonny Taylor. Mrs. Hausgen, 84, passed away Wednesday morning, December 16, 2020 at her home near Elsberry. Born August 6, 1936 in Elsberry, she was the daughter of George and Delpha M. Wilhite Hardin, and was later adopted by Andrew and Edna Ash. A lifelong resident of the Elsberry community, Margia was a 1955 graduate of Elsberry High School. She attended St. Charles Beauty College and was self-employed as a hairdresser for several years. Margia was united in marriage on December 29, 1956 in Elsberry to Ernest Forrest Hausgen. This union was blessed with two children: Neta and Frederick. Margia was active in her community and served on the Elsberry Public Library Board for many years and acted as hostess at the annual Library fundraising dinner. She enjoyed serving as the “Social Director” and scheduler for the OATS trips. She loved babysitting, doing crafts and puzzles, going on school field trips, and being a daily part of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives. She was a member of the Elsberry Senior Citizens Center and enjoyed the monthly dinners. Margia was preceded in death by her parents, George and Delphia Hardin, and Andrew and Edna Ash; and her beloved husband of almost 49 years, Ernie Hausgen, who died November 17, 2005. Survivors include her daughter, Neta Hausgen and her fiance’, Greg Eagle, of Elsberry; one son, Frederick Hausgen and his wife, Carolyn, of Elsberry; six grandchildren: Aaron Lee Kinsler and wife, Karen, Matthew Michael Kinsler and wife, Kandi, Doneta Marie Gladney and husband, Aaron, Tiffany Jean Mound and husband, Jeremie, Karlie Irvin and her husband, Derek, and Rick Hausgen; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Margia also leaves several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 21, 2020 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
