Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes Phone 573-898-2181 / Fax 573-898-3148 Newspaper Notice of Death Charles Edward "Buster" Austin Funeral services for Charles Edward "Buster" Austin, of Foley, MO (formerly of Elsberry, MO) were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO. Rev. Richard Pillers, pastor of Assembly of God Church in Elsberry and Rev. Franklin Laird and Rev. Jim Laird, friends of the family, officiated the service with burial in New Hope Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers were Larry Vaughn, Rick Wood, Mike Riffle, Daniel Hull, Doug Harris and Jamie Hull. Honorary pallbearers were Denny Burbridge and Demore "Pigtail" Davis. Mr. Austin, 71, died Friday evening, September 22, 2006 at Troy Manor in Troy, MO. Born February 23, 1935 in Elsberry, MO, he was the son of Orval William "Hop" and Mary Virginia Beck Austin. He served is country during Peacetime in the U.S. Army from July 9, 1957 until being honorably discharged June 15, 1959. He was united in marriage October 5, 1963 to Lillian Frances "Lil" Cox. This union was blessed with two sons: Mark Edward and Matthew Christopher Charles. He worked for 31 years as a grinder for McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis, MO, retiring April 30, 1997. He was a member of Assembly of God Church in Elsberry, where he enjoyed playing his guitar. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Mary Austin; and one sister, Elizabeth Strobl. Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 43 years, Lillian Austin of Foley; two sons: Mark Austin and his wife, Angela, of Foley and Matthew Austin also of Foley; one sister, Vivian Kay "Bee" Hull, of Troy, MO; one grandchild; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
