Obituary of Dennis Richard Palmer

Mr. Dennis Richard Palmer, 55, of Vandalia, MO passed away Monday, December 7, 2020 in Vandalia, MO. Born May 30, 1965 in St. Charles, MO, he was the son of Charles Richard and Jeanette McDonald Palmer. He served his country proudly in the United States Army at Fort Riley, KS, earning many awards and acknowledgments. Dennis worked as a mechanic for many years. He enjoyed working on vehicles and fishing in his free time. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2020; and Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday, December 16, 2020, both at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO. Rev. Sam Byers of the Elsberry First Baptist Church will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Greg King, Isiah Soto, Kevin Cassidy, Eddie Linear, Paul Green and Derrick Palmer. Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Charles Palmer; one niece, Aricca Palmer; and one nephew, Dennis Michael McCafferty, Jr. Survivors include his children: Christian Chas Palmer of West Amana, IA, Tara Palmer of St. Louis, MO, Brandon Palmer of St. Louis, and Jessika Palmer, also of St. Peters, MO; and four grandchildren. Dennis also leaves his mother, Jeanette Palmer of Elsberry; his companion, Leslie Maylee of Vandalia; three brothers: Charles Daniel “Danny” Palmer of Elsberry, Derrick Palmer and his wife, Leslie, of East Alton, IL, and Dedric Palmer of Elsberry; two sisters: Debi Bowser and her husband, Arnie, of Divide, MT, and Donna Hammond and her husband, Rich, of St. Peters, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
