Obituary of Robert Lee Millikan

Robert Lee Millikan, 38, of Winfield, MO formerly of Elsberry, MO passed away on December 5, 2020 after suffering surgical complications. Born October 21, 1982, Robert was the oldest son of Albert and Lorna Millikan. He was a 2001 Elsberry High School graduate where he received countless awards and accolades for his athletic ability. Robert was engaged to marry Meagan Davis on March 27, 2021. Robert was a dearly loved son, brother, fiancé, nephew, cousin, and friend to so many. He never knew a stranger, at least not for long. He had an infectious smile that would naturally draw people to his side. Although he tried to maintain his tough guy exterior, deep down he had a heart of gold. A big man with a lot of charisma, Robert lived for his friends and family. Through the years Robert faced many challenges but he never let it stop him. He chose to find the good in his situation, never missing a chance to make his friends feel his love by making them laugh full belly laughs until they cried. Born the day after the St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series, it was no surprise at a young age Rob would fall in love with the game. He spent countless years at the ballpark, dominating the mound, alternating between one heck of a fastball and a killer curve, leaving batters wondering “what in the heck was that?” After the years of playing ball were over, Rob continued to display his competitive nature in almost everything he did, especially in his fantasy leagues and pool tournaments. Rob always wanted to bring home a “W'' but more than anything he just wanted to be around the people he cared about most. As happy as Rob was spewing the latest baseball stats and drafting top picks for his fantasy league, nothing compared to the happiness he found once he met his fiancée, Meagan. Rob wanted nothing more than to marry his bride, start their life as one, and build their family. His life was cut short for reasons we will never know but his memory will live on forever through all the people who loved him. Robert was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; one aunt, Grace Stradford; one uncle, Jack Schneider; and his beloved father, Albert Richard Millikan, who passed away January 19, 2020. He is survived by his beautiful bride-to-be, Meagan Davis of Winfield (formerly Maryland Heights, MO); his mother, Lorna Millikan of Troy, MO; his siblings: Larry Millikan of Louisville, KY and Kelli Millikan of Troy; his cousins; Steve Millikan, who he was raised with, and his wife, Jamie (who was one of his best friends, of Elsberry, William Millikan and his wife, Heather, of St. Ann, MO, Tommy Stradford of Truesdale, OR, Billy Stradford of Elsberry, and Becki Capps and her husband, Danny, of Elsberry; and best friend, Micheal Romanchuk of Troy. Robert also leaves behind his uncle, Bill Millikan of St. Ann; his aunt, Artie Millikan of Elsberry, other cousins, and many, many more friends. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on December 12, 2020. Rev. Sam Byers, pastor of Elsberry First Baptist Church will officiate. Friends and family will be received prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
