Obituary of Russell Benjaman Dillon

Graveside Services for Russell Benjamin Dillon, Sr. of Wheatland, MO, formerly of Winfield, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 7, 2020 at New Salem Cemetery near Winfield. J. Larry Carter of Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes will officiate. Mr. Dillon, 87, passed away early Saturday morning, November 28, 2020 at Citizen’s Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, MO. Born December 21, 1932 in Jefferson County, MO, he was the son of Edward K. and Adele Marian Poe Dillon. Russell was united in marriage on February 19, 1958 in St. Louis, MO to Mildred Kathrine Moore. This union was blessed with three children: Russell, Jr., Brian and Louise. Russell worked as a printer and painter for Gaylord Box. He also did janitorial work and enjoyed working on small engines. Russell was an accomplished ballroom dancer, winning several trophies. He was still dancing three times a week up until the time of his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Adele Dillon; his sister, Marian Ashley Dillon as an infant; one brother, Edward Dillon; and his beloved wife of 48 years, Mildred Dillon, who died on July 8, 2006. Survivors include his children: Russell Dillon, Jr. and his wife, Shara, of Troy, MO, Brian Dillon of Winfield and Louise Dillon, also of Winfield; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Russell also leaves one brother, Ed Berkholz of Owensville, MO; his good friend, Dorothy, of Wheatland; many other relatives and friends.
