Obituary of Howard W. Pierce, Jr.

Funeral Services for Howard William Pierce, Jr. of Winfield, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield. Pastor Joseph Britain, pastor of Troy Assembly of God Church in Troy, MO, will officiate with burial in Troy City Cemetery in Troy. The Funeral Service and Graveside Service can both be seen live on the Carter-Ricks Funeral Home Facebook page. Serving as pallbearers will be Jonathan Sinks, Joshua Pierce, Ryan Sieve, Riley Sieve, Gary Tiesing and Jesus Gonzalez. Mr. Pierce, 81, passed away Friday evening, October 23, 2020 at his home. Born October 4, 1939 in Princeville, IL, he was the son of Howard William and Amanda Talbot Pierce, Sr. Howard served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He was united in marriage on April 29, 1961 in Centerville, IL to Joyce Vera Hennicke. This union was blessed with six children: Joe, James, Donna, Raymond, Howard III and Julietta. Howard worked as an electronic technician with Guidance Control Systems for McDonnell Douglas and later Boeing. He helped with Special Olympics for 25 years. Howard was a man of faith who helped start several churches, including Church on the Rock. He was a longtime member of Assembly of God Church in Troy, where he sang in the choir and served as Deacon. Howard took it upon himself to help others by delivering food to those in need. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Amanda Pierce, Sr.; two brothers: Jim and Samuel Pierce; one sister, Donna Wells; one son, Joe Sieve; one daughter, Donna Layton; one son-in-law, Kraig Kurtz; one daughter-in-law, Cynthia Sieve; one grandson, Neil Tiek; and his beloved wife of nearly 48 years, Joyce Pierce, who died on October 4. 2009. Survivors include three sons: James Sieve and his wife, Maureen, of Steedman, MO, Raymond Sieve and his wife, Tina, of Wentzville, MO and Howard “Billy” Pierce III and his wife, Vickie, of Winfield; one daughter, Julietta Kurtz of O’Fallon, MO; twenty grandchildren and thirty nine great-grandchildren. Howard also leaves one brother, Tom Pierce and his wife, Donna, of E. Peoria, IL; one sister, Mary Ann Parris of Elmwood, IL; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
