Obituary of Robert Eugene Weeks

Funeral Services for Robert Eugene Weeks of Elsberry, MO will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2020 at the Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Conrad Cheatham, pastor of the Elsberry ARPresbyterian Church, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Pat Donovan, Calvin McLeod, Patrick Burkemper, Joshua McLeod, Darren Dietrich and Bryan Reed; honorary pallbearers will be Caleb McLeod, Caine McLeod, Darrell Painter and Paul LaBanca. Mr. Weeks, 92, passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 27, 2020 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born December 14, 1927 in Elsberry, he was the son of Ernest Whiteside and Mary C. Luckett Weeks. Bob was a 1945 graduate of Elsberry High School. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army from November 9, 1950 until he was honorably discharged on August 8, 1952. Bob was united in marriage on April 19, 1958 in LaGrange, MO to Valerie Ann Thompson. This union was blessed with three daughters, Phyllis, Kathie and Elaine. Bob was employed as a mechanic in Machinist District 9 in St. Louis for over 50 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of American Legion Post #226 in Elsberry. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mary Weeks; and one granddaughter, Angela Michelle Reed. Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Valerie Weeks of Elsberry; three daughters: Phyllis Donovan and her husband, Pat, of Troy, Kathie McLeod and her husband, Calvin, of Elsberry, and Elaine Burkemper and her husband, Patrick, of Elsberry; eight grandchildren: Jenny Williams, Darren Dietrich, Billie Jean McLeod, Joshua McLeod, Caleb McLeod, Caine McLeod, Bryan Reed and Emily Reed; and twelve great-grandchildren. Bob also leaves several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of the Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2020 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
