Obituary of Rosemary Phyllis Davis
Funeral Services for Rosemary Phyllis Davis of St. Charles, MO, formerly of Elsberry, MO will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Kris Hagemeier, pastor of the Elsberry First Christian Church, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Frisella, Nick Frisella, Tom King, Micah Huff, Nathanael Davis and Jerry Keeven; and honorary pallbearers will be Steven Davis, Troy Fink and Mike Coyle.
Mrs. Davis, 89, passed away Tuesday evening, October 6, 2020 at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles, MO. Born November 29, 1930 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of William Clarence and Matilda Kuentz Klockenbrink. Rosemary was a 1948 graduate of Ben Blueit High School in St. Louis, MO. She was united in marriage on June 21, 1950 in St. Louis to Thomas Ferry Davis. This union was blessed with three children: Michael, Richard and Katherine. Rosemary worked for many years as a checker at the Elsberry IGA, retiring in 1988. She was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local #655. She was involved in the Elsberry community as a long-time member of the Elsberry R-2 School Board. She was a former member of the Jessie Black Club and was a member of the Elsberry First Christian Church.
Rosemary has many interests which included making stained glass, photography, painting and tending her flowers. She enjoyed playing both singles and doubles tennis, and was an avid Chess player. Rosemary was a champion Table Tennis player, winning many trophies and medals. She competed in many tournaments, including the Huntsman World Senior Table Tennis Games in St. George, UT during the 1990s. She was a member of the United States Table Tennis Association.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, William and Matilda Klockenbrink; her siblings: Kenny Klockenbrink, Lillian Hammer, Wm. Clarence Klockenbrink and Annette Braungardt; and one grandson, Philip Frisella.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 70 years, Tom Davis of St. Charles; their children: Michael “Mike” Davis and his wife, Eileen, of St. Peters, MO, Richard “Rick” Davis and his wife, Terri, of Elsberry, and Katherine Davis of Edwardsville, IL; nine grandchildren: Dr. Anthony Frisella, Sarah King, Casey Huff, Nick Frisella, Nathanael Davis, Heather Langford, Steven Davis, Laurell Keeven and Abigail Davis, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild. Rosemary also leaves several in-laws, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the Joseph R. Palmer Family Memorial Library in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
