Obituary of Robert Olon Gray

Graveside Services for Robert Olon “Bob” Gray of Troy, MO, formerly of Elsberry, MO will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at the Elsberry City Cemetery. Rev. Kris Hagemeier, former pastor of the Elsberry First Christian Church, will officiate. Mr. Gray, 72, passed away Saturday afternoon, September 12, 2020 at St. Joseph West Hospital in Lake St. Louis, MO. Born November 1, 1947 in Louisiana, MO, he was the son of Chester Graham and Betty Ruth Finley Gray. Bob was a 1965 graduate of Elsberry High School, and attended the University of Missouri-Columbia for one year. He served his country in the U.S. Army from January 23, 1969 until his honorable discharge on January 13, 1971. During his service, Bob was stationed in Germany. Bob was self-employed as an over-the-road trucker for many years, retiring in 1997. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Betty Gray; and one sister, Patti Sanford. Survivors include his siblings: Steve Gray of Elsberry, Terri Davis and her husband, Rick, of Elsberry, Joan Hagemeier and her husband, Gary, of Elsberry, and Dawn McClean; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
