Obituary of Allen Lewis Ricks

Memorial Graveside Services for Allen Lewis Ricks of Manchester, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2020 the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry, MO. Rev. Scott Bailey-Kirk, pastor of Platte City, MO UMC will officiate, with inurnment to follow. Graveside services will be live streamed on the Carter-Ricks Funeral Home Facebook page. Mr. Ricks, 73, passed away late Thursday night, August 27, 2020 at Delmar Gardens on the Green in Chesterfield, MO. Born July 16, 1947 in St. Charles, MO he was the son of O’Garlan C. and Kathryn Grace Trescott Ricks. Allen graduated from Elsberry High School and the University of Missouri-Columbia. He was a faithful member of Manchester United Methodist Church. Allen loved working with the youth and served as a camp counselor for many years. He will be remembered as “Uncle Al the Camper’s Pal.” Allen worked in the St. Louis area as a Mortgage Loan Representative. Allen loved his Missouri Tigers and attended every home football game for over 40 years, and was a regular at the annual Missouri-Illinois basketball game. Allen enjoyed spending summer evenings at the Muny Opera in St. Louis sharing his season tickets with friends and family for many years. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, O’Garlan and Kathryn Ricks; his sister, Carol Ricks; and brother, Christian Trescott Ricks. Allen is survived by his sister-in-law, Bonnie Ricks of Jefferson City, MO; one niece, Andrea Louise Curtis and her husband, Troy, of Sedalia, MO; one nephew, Christian Trescott Ricks II and his wife, Beth, of Kansas City, KS; and his great-nieces and great nephew. Allen also leaves one uncle, Lewis Trescott and his wife, Cathy, of Colorado; two aunts: Jeanette McMillin of St. Peters, MO and Beverly Mueller of Brentwood, TN; many cousins; other relatives and friends.
