Obituary of Bertina Bromwich

Funeral Services for Theresa Bertina Bromwich of Winfield, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at the Foley Baptist Church in Foley, MO. Rev. Lyndel Thompson of Bowling Green, MO, and Rev. Will Steinbeck, pastor of Foley Baptist Church, will officiate with burial in Bethany Cemetery near Foley. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Bromwich, Jason Bromwich, Joe Bromwich, Chad Bromwich, Jason Ratcliff and Justin Ratcliff. Mrs. Bromwich, 88, passed away Friday morning, August 21, 2020 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry, MO. Born January 8, 1932 in Foley, she was the daughter of Bert David and Lela Theresa Colbert Yelick. Bertina was united in marriage on October 16, 1948 in Troy, MO to John Henry Bromwich. This union was blessed with five children: Cathy Delaine, Mary Frances, Michael Dewayne, Allen Keith and John Jay. A loving wife, mother and homemaker, Bertina was also active in the family farm operation. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, as well as making jewelry. An avid horsewoman, she enjoyed riding for many years. She was a member of the Cornick Homemakers Club. Bertina was a longtime member of the Foley Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Lela Yelick; one daughter, Mary Francis Holdenried; one son, John Jay Bromwich; one sister, Doris Howland; and her beloved husband of 68 years, John Bromwich, who died October 23, 2016. Survivors include her two sons: Michael Bromwich and his wife, Viola, of Foley, and Allen Bromwich and his wife, Kathy, of Winfield, MO; one daughter, Cathy Delaine Cox and her husband, Ron, of McKinney, TX; twelve grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Bertina also leaves several in-laws, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2020 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield; and from 9:00 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at the Foley Baptist Church.
