Obituary of Violet Ruth Myers

Funeral Services for Violet Ruth Myers formerly of Perry, MO, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO. J. Larry Carter of Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Lynn Elvin Myers, Rick Myers, Randy Myers, Jay Currie, Jason Currie and Lynn Myers. Mrs. Myers, 83, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2020 at Troy Manor in Troy, MO. Born February 6, 1937 in Jefferson City, MO, Violet was the daughter of George Edward and Edna Mae Farley Smith. She was united in marriage on February 11, 1954 in Jefferson City, MO to Lynn Elvin Myers. This union was blessed with five children: Rick, Kathi, Randy, Trudy and Tommy. She was a waitress at Peanuts Restaurant in Elsberry for several years. Violet and Lynn owned and operated the Do Drop Inn Restaurant in Elsberry for a few years. She also served as an AVON representative for many years. Violet was a loving and devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was an honorary member of the Eagles. She enjoyed fishing, all types of hunting and quilting. She was a military Blue Star Mother. Violet was preceded in death by her parents, George and Edna Smith; two brothers, George Smith, Jr. and Bob Smith; and one son, Tommy Lee Myers who died January 31, 2018. Survivors include her beloved husband of 66 years, Lynn Myers of Elsberry, MO; their children: Rick Myers of Foley, MO, Kathi Currie and her husband, Jay, also of Foley, Randy “Patch” Myers of Warrenton, MO and Trudy Myers of Elsberry; ten grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Violet also leaves two brothers: Bill Smith and his wife, Charlene, and Donnie Smith and his wife, Helen, all of Jefferson City; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
