Obituary of Anna Bell Foster

Funeral Services for Anna Bell Foster of Ferguson, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield, MO. Rev. Jeff Evenson, pastor of the Troy Community Center in Troy, MO, will officiate with burial in Star Hope Cemetery near Elsberry, MO. Mrs. Foster, 95, passed away Friday afternoon, June 19, 2020 at Garden View Care Center in O’Fallon, MO. Born September 29, 1924 in Foley, MO she was the daughter of Franklin W. and Georgia Lee Murphy Morris. Anna’s birth name was to be Annabel Lee Morris, per her father’s request, referencing the poem Annabel Lee by Edgar Alan Poe, but was changed in the birth recording process. Anna grew up on a farm near Foley and graduated from Winfield High School. She was united in marriage on June 8, 1943 in St. Charles, MO to O. Dale Foster. After World War II, Anna and Dale moved to a Trailer Court near Wellston, MO in a homemade trailer. It was during this time Dale attended and graduated from Washington University, Anna provided income by working as a bacon cutter at Krey Packing Co. Oscar and Anna were blessed with four sons: Steven, Todd, Drew and Robert. Anna was a physically and emotionally strong person; and a member of the Greatest Generation. Her main focus was raising her family and managing her home and devotion to her husband. Anna enjoyed sewing and antique collecting. She was an excellent cook, and renowned for her roast beef and mashed potatoes. Anna was a very loving and giving person who would do anything for anyone. She was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Georgia Morris; her brothers: Homer and Joseph Morris; her sisters: Alvina Saucerman and Martha Richy; three sons: Steven, Todd and Drew; and her beloved husband of 58 years, Dale Foster. Survivors include one son: Robert W. Foster and his wife, Marjorie of O’Fallon, MO; her grandchildren: Michelle Foster of Boston, MA, Laura and Jason Jarl of Austin, TX, Robert W. Foster, Jr. of O’Fallon; her sister, Betty Jean (Colbert) Cox of Troy, MO; nieces, nephews, and other family members. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
