Obituary of Judith Anne Gilbert

Judith Anne “Judy” Gilbert of Winfield, MO passed away late Wednesday night, June 10, 2020 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry, MO. Born November 30, 1939 in Altus, OK, she was the daughter of Jewett and Mable Walker Huff. Judy earned her History degree at the University of Oklahoma, where she met her future husband Richard Lynn “Dick” Gilbert. They were united in marriage on August 27, 1960 in Norman, OK. This union was blessed with three living children: Brandon, Ruth, and Mary. Judy and Dick owned Harmony Harbor in Foley, MO for many years. Judy later earned her PHD in History and was a History Professor at City University of New York. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Jewett and Mable Huff; one brother, Jewett Eugene Huff; infant son Samuel David, and her beloved husband of 58 years, Richard Gilbert, who died on January 9, 2019. Survivors include her children: Mary Noble and her husband, Duke, of Elsberry, Ruth Vertrees and her husband, Keith, of Warrenton, MO and Brandon Gilbert and his companion, Karen Gallino, of Winfield, MO; and three grandchildren: Daniel Anderson, Linda Shepard and Giulia Gallino. Judy also leaves one brother, Glen Douglas Huff and his wife, Vicki, of Oklahoma City, OK; many other relatives and friends. There are no Funeral Services scheduled.
