Obituary of Thomas Wayne Turner

Funeral Services for Thomas Wayne “Tommy” Turner of Elsberry, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Eloise Slaughter and Rev. Jeff Gordan, pastor of the Elsberry Holiness Church, will officiate with burial in the New Hope Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Smith, Curtis Smith, Steve Robinson, Allen Siders, Dave Elliott and Alan Turner. Mr. Turner, 76, passed away Friday afternoon, June 5, 2020 at his home in Elsberry. Born February 15, 1944 in Williamsville, IL, he was the fourth of eleven children born to Robert Lee and Edna Emma Stiles Turner. Tommy was united in marriage on October 9, 1965 in Louisiana, MO to Leta Jeanette Robinson. This union was blessed with three children: Tamara Marie, Lisa Lynn and Kristen Wayne. Tommy was employed for many years as a heavy equipment operator for Magruder Construction, and later for Lafarge Construction, retiring June 1, 2007. He was a member of the Heavy Equipment Operators’ Local #513 in St. Louis, MO. After he retired, he worked for a number of years for Keevan Sod in St. Charles County. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Edna Turner; one brother, Scott Windfield Turner; and his wife of almost 23 years, Leta Turner, who died July 10, 1988. Survivors include his friend and companion, Jane Bossard of Elsberry; his children: Tammy Turner and her companion, Kevin Hunter, of Elsberry, Lisa Turner and her companion, Curtis Biggs, of Clarksville, MO, and Kris Turner of Overland, MO; Jane’s daughters, Lisa Ochsenbine and Loretta Cooley, both of St. Clair, MO; and several grandchildren. Tommy also leaves nine siblings: Bobby Tylor Turner and his wife, Goldie, of Louisiana, MO, Norma Jean Blair of Mt. Sterling, IL, Ora Jane Fischer of St. Charles, MO, Virginia Lee Sotelo and her husband, Everisto, of Littleton, IL, Lloyd Eugene Turner of Louisiana, MO, Leona May Ryland and her husband, J.R., of Louisiana, MO, Frederick Richard Turner of Louisiana, MO, Priscilla Rose Klingler and her husband, Robert, of Plymouth, IL and John H. Turner and his wife, Marygail, of Bowling Green, MO; one sister-in-law, Ida Belle Turner of Clayton, IL; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
