Obituary of Barbara Jean Fletcher

Private Family Graveside Services for Barbie Jean Fletcher will be held in the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry, MO. Mrs. Fletcher, 66, passed away Friday, February 28, 2020 in Hospice Care in Orange Park, FL. Born June 22, 1953 in St. Charles, MO, she was the daughter of Robert Oren and Rosetta Bell Taylor Lester. Barbie attended Troy public schools and graduated from McCluer High School in Florissant, MO; later attending Florissant Community College. Barbie worked at McDonnell Douglas Aerospace Corporation in St. Louis, MO, where she had a rewarding and successful career of 32 years. Barbie was united in marriage on May 25, 2002 in Jamaica to Kevin Fletcher. Following her retirement, Barbie and Kevin moved to Magnolia Point Golf and Country Club in Green Cove Springs. There she was a member of The Church of Eleven22, MPG and CC Women’s Club, and VFW Women’s Auxiliary, where she was involved in social, community and charity projects. Barbie loved her family, traveling to different countries and good food and wine. She enjoyed yoga, entertaining, socializing and going to movies and plays with friends. Barbie had a wonderful smile that could light up the room. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bobby and Rosetta Lester; and her brother, Earl Lester. Survivors include her loving husband, Kevin Fletcher of Green Cove Springs; two stepdaughters: Chelsea Fletcher and Melissa Hoskins; and two granddaughters: Alexis Rust and Cora Powell, both of Orange Park, FL. Barbie also leaves her mother-in-law, Shirly Fletcher of Orange Park; sister-in-law, Colleen Adams of Orange Park; her sister, Patsy Kinsler of Elsberry; two nephews: Casey Henry and his wife, Tricia, of Foley, MO and Darrin Lester of Winfield; two nieces: Jodi Mauzy and her husband, Roger, of Elsberry and Hattie Lester of Winfield; along with several grandnieces and nephews, all of whom live in Missouri and brought great joy to her throughout her life.
